How to use the wagering calculator
- Choose the bonus type: a deposit bonus, a free bonus with no deposit, or free spins.
- Enter the amounts and the wagering requirement from the casino's bonus terms.
- Pick the type of game you plan to play, since games count different amounts toward the requirement.
- Read the total you must wager and the real bets needed on your chosen game.
Example
You deposit £100 and get a 100% match, so the bonus is £100 and you start with £200. With a 35x requirement on the bonus only, you must wager £3,500. If you play slots that count 100%, that is £3,500 in bets. If the requirement is on bonus plus deposit, the same offer needs £7,000 of wagering, double the amount.
Where to find the wagering requirement
It is in the bonus terms and conditions, usually under a heading such as "wagering" or "playthrough". Look for the multiplier, whether it applies to the bonus or to bonus plus deposit, how long you have to complete it, and the maximum bet allowed while a bonus is active. Our casino bonuses page and individual casino reviews flag the terms that matter.
Wagering calculator FAQ
What is a wagering requirement?
A wagering requirement (also called a playthrough) is the amount you must bet before a casino lets you withdraw money linked to a bonus. A 35x requirement on a £50 bonus means you must place £1,750 in bets first.
How do I calculate wagering requirements?
Multiply the amount the requirement applies to by the multiplier. If it applies to the bonus only, use the bonus amount. If it applies to bonus plus deposit, add them together first. Then divide by the game's contribution percentage to find the real bets you need to place.
What is a good wagering requirement?
Lower is better. Requirements of 20x to 35x are fairly common, below 20x is good, and anything over 40x is hard to clear. Also check whether it applies to the bonus only or to the bonus plus your deposit, because that changes the total a lot.
What does game contribution mean?
Different games count different amounts toward your requirement. Slots usually count 100%, while roulette, blackjack and other table games often count 10% to 20% or nothing at all. A £10 bet on a game that counts 10% only clears £1 of the requirement.
Do free spins have wagering requirements?
Often yes. The requirement is usually applied to what the free spins win, and many casinos also cap how much of those winnings you can withdraw. Use the Free spins tab to include both.
Why does the calculator show an estimated cost?
Every game has a built-in house edge. Betting the full requirement at a 96% RTP game loses about 4% of the total bets on average, which is the real price of clearing a bonus. It is an average only: any single session can win or lose far more.
